1. Philippine Eagle Center – The Center is home to 36 Philippine Eagles, 18 of which are captive-bred. It also houses 10 other species of birds, 4 species of mammals and 2 species of reptiles. Simulating a tropical rain forest environment, the Center offers the visitor a glimpse into the country’s forest ecosystem. Although the exhibits are used primarily to help educate the Filipino people on conservation, the facility is also considered a major tourist attraction in Davao City.

2. SUL Orchidarium – Get to see the different orchids and a wide variety of plants that are found mostly in Davao.

3. Lon Wa Buddhist Temple – The Longhua Temple, also known as the Lon Wa Buddhist Temple is one of the biggest Buddhist temples in the Philippines and the biggest in the island of Mindanao. It is located 3-4 kilometers northeast of the city center at Cabagiuo Avenue. The Lon Wa Buddhist Temple walls though are laden with Italian marble slabs that make for nice contrast to an otherwise stark décor. Walking through the end of a long hall with high ceilings, you will see a huge magnificent replica of Buddha. You’d also see a resplendent gold Kuan Yin and ornamentations featuring the life of Buddha carved in wood. You would also enjoy the serene atmosphere created by the lily ponds filled with carps.

4. Puentespina Orchid Selling Area – Puentespina Orchids & Tropical Plants, Inc. (POTPI) started as hobby in orchid growing by its founder Charita P. Puentespina in 1977. It grew to become a main business concern, and in 1988 it was incorporated to become what it is now. It has become among the biggest producers of cut flowers in the country today. It supplies its products to major cities nationwide. It has four main production operations: Cut flower production, Cut foliage production, Orchids & Pot plant production and Ornamental & Landscape plants production.

5. Magsaysay Fruit Market – Are you a fan of the pungent-smelling durian or the sweet majarlika rambutan? Are you daring enough to eat the sweet-sour mangostene or peel the think-skinned pomelo? Or maybe you would just like to eat fresh fruits? The answer to all the above-mentioned questions is the Magsaysay Fruit Market. Just beside the public park lies a stretch of fresh fruit stalls. Fruits are very fresh and cheap here compared to Manila.

6. Chinatown – Davao Chinatown, also known as Mindanao Chinatown, is the only Chinatown in Mindanao located in the island’s de facto capital, Davao City, Mindanao, the Philippines. At around 44 hectares, it is at the center of numerous business establishments, of which a great majority is owned by Chinese Filipinos who were either born in the country or naturalized Filipino citizens who trace their roots to mainland China. These business establishments include about 30 banks, a wide variety of restaurants offering not only Chinese cuisine but also Korean, Filipino and the like. Chinese themed malls and shops also pockmark this business enclave of the City of Davao which is globally known as the international gateway and most progressive city of Mindanao. It is the only Chinatown in The Philippines with its own seaport that is Sta. Ana Wharf. The Davao Chinatown encompasses the areas of Ramon Magsaysay Avenue, Monteverde Avenue, Sta. Ana Avenue, and Leon Garcia Street.

7. Aldevinco Shopping Center – The ALDEVINCO Shopping Center is located between two of Davao City’s busiest thoroughfares, conveniently nestled at the junction of Claro M. Recto and Manuel Roxas Avenues. In 1963, Conrado Alcantara and his wife, Ladislawa, took one look at an 8,370 square meter property along Claveria Avenue (now Claro M. Recto Avenue) and decided that it was the perfect place for a commercial complex. Davao City then had just entered a time of progress in construction and even in business. The Alcantaras invited the Manila based group of Architect Roman Solitaria to build the first shopping center in Davao City, the ALDEVINCO Shopping Center or simply known as ALDEVINCO. On January 2, 1965, ALDEVINCO was blessed and inaugurated.

8. Museo Dabawenyo – Museo Dabawenyo or the “Museum of the people of Davao” is one of the two known museums in Davao. Although it is directly translated as “Davao Museum”, it is commonly known as the NEW Museum. The other museum is known as the OLD Davao Museum which is located inside Insular Village just about a hundred meters from the main gate and is slightly bigger than Museo Dabawenyo.

9. Jack’s Ridge – JACK’S Ridge is one of the most popular recreational and dining destinations in Davao City. It sits on top of a high and very steep slope, overlooking the scenic expanse of Davao City and the Gulf of Davao. The place is located on a high mountain slope at Shrine Hills, Matina, Davao City.

10. Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague – One of the most famous tourist spots in Davao City is the Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague. Situated on top of Matina Hill is this quaint and serene place of worship. It is surrounded by rolling grass and spots of century mango’s (more than 30 years old), which makes this an ideal place to meditate and commune with the Lord. One other unique feature of the Shrine is that it has no four walls bounding it, but rather, it is a collection of different open air Chapels. It has to be noted also that dating in this place is frowned upon, as well as making it a destination for boiterous activity. There is no entrance fee when entering the Shrine but please, mind the silence. The Shrine isn’t open 24 hours so don’t try to go there at the dead of night (or at least past 6PM) and expect the gates to be open, unless of course there is Mass scheduled.

11. Crocodile Park – The Davao Crocodile Park all started from the enchantment of the owner, Mr. Philip Dizon, to Freshwater and Saltwater Crocodiles. It was not in his mind that this is a moneymaking business until he realized that crocodiles are raised in the United States of America not just for public viewing but for production of leather to be made into bags, belts and shoes as well. It was in November 1995 when the government has given Mr. Philip Dizon the accreditation and permits to operate the 1st ever Davao Crocodile Park. 10 years later, on August 18, 2005, the world-class Davao Crocodile Park was opened with the help of the consultant Dr. Gilbert Buenviaje. The Davao Crocodile Park Inc. is owned and operated by a group of businessmen headed by Mr. Sonny Dizon, a resident of Davao City.
